UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON Basic Responsibilities: Student Calling Program Representatives are primarily responsible for calling alumni, friends and parents across the United States and Canada to acquire, renew, and upgrade gifts to the University of Washington. Student callers are also responsible for surveys, stewardship, and alumni event calling as needed by the University. Qualifications: Student Calling Program Representatives must be fully matriculated students at the University of Washington. Students applying must be serious about part-time employment. Student Calling Program Representatives must have an excellent command of the English Language as well as excellent communication, sales, and computer skills. Enthusiasm for the University of Washington and an appealing phone presence are also required. In short, Student Calling Program Representatives must possess the ability to be an appropriate ambassador to alumni and friends of the University of Washington. Scheduling: The Student Calling Program solicits gifts for the University of Washington year-round, 6 days a week. Evening shifts run Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, a morning shift is held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Student Calling Program Representatives can choose to begin calling at 4:00 p.m. during the week. Student Calling Program Representatives are required to work a minimum of two shifts each week. A full-time (12 or more credits) student may not exceed 19.5 hours per week. Training: Student Calling Program Representatives will receive approximately 3 hours of initial training before soliciting their first gift. Further training, guidance, and evaluations will be conducted by the Student Managers. Formal, mandatory follow-up training sessions will be held with frequency, as training is an ongoing, complex process. Pay: Beginning Student Calling Program Representatives are paid $8.00 plus nightly bonuses. Pay raises are contingent upon performance and experience. Paychecks are issued on the 10th and 25th of each month. Student Calling Program Representatives are paid for the period October 161h through the 30th on November 10th. If payday falls on a Saturday, checks will arrive on the proceeding Friday; if payday falls on a Sunday, checks will arrive on the following Monday. Depending on the start date new employees should plan for a 2-4 week delay before receiving their first check. Therefore, it is crucial to have paperwork completed as soon as possible so not to prolong this process. |
