Welcome to the 2008 Senior Class Gift Website "Only 1% of the world's population is privileged enough to have a post-secondary education and here at the UW we are fortunate to have one of the best. This is what our senior class gift honors." Irina Motoc, Class of 2008 Senior Gift Council Through the Senior Class Gift, this year's graduates thank those that came before them for their contributions, ensure that current and future UW students continue to receive outstanding educational opportunities, and take the first step in becoming part of a legacy of philanthropy here at the UW. Over the past century, UW classes have united together to give back to the University in a variety of ways. From Sylvan Grove to the cherry trees in the Quad to the numerous scholarships and scholarship endowments available to students across our campus, the mark of generations of students that have come before is both evident and everlasting. Becoming part of this tradition shows that the Class of 2008 values the education they received, carries the same spirit and Husky pride of past UW classes, and believes in reaching out to give back and helping students to come. The Senior Class Gift Council has the responsibility and privilege of selecting campus-specific Class Gift Projects that embody the spirit of their entire class. This year's Council is made up of over 50 students from all three campuses and has worked throughout the year as a team to plan and organize the Campaign and inspire other 2008 graduates to give. 2008 Class Gift Projects
To demonstrate a growing commitment to environmental responsibility, the Seattle Class of 2008 has chosen to create a unique endowment for their Senior Class Gift, one that will provide funds in perpetuity to support a greener campus. The challenge is to raise $50,000 or more for the University to invest The Class of 2008 Endowment for Sustainability. The interest earned from this endowment will then be used each year to improve sustainability in areas such as:
The UW Bothell Class of 2008 has chosen to continue supporting a project that will make a definite positive impact on the lives of some of our future Bothell students; a scholarship fund entitled The UW Bothell Alumni Scholarship Fund in honor of their experience here at the University. The UW Tacoma seniors will be joining forces once again with the Classes of 2005, 2006, and 2007 to create a "time-honored" symbol of their academic experience with The UW Tacoma Senior Clock Fund. As the UWT campus continues to grow, the Class of 2008 will show their spirit and legacy by helping to create a universal community fixture on the new grounds; a clock that will be installed in the new Assembly Hall, which broke ground in 2007. As a supporter of the Senior Class Gift Program, you can choose where your money goes, and a gift of any size makes a difference. Whether you give to The Class of 2008 Endowment for Sustainability, or perhaps to your home department or a particular school or program that you'd like to see benefit from your gift, your gift will be counted towards the gift total presented to President Emmert at Commencement. Your support is the key in providing more opportunities and a better campus for future students. The Ultimate UW Senior Checklist: Things To Do Before You Graduate
