A Newsletter for Friends and Alumni of the University of Washington
Campaign Update

William H. GatesBack-to-school time takes on a special meaning this year as the University of Washington welcomes more than 5,500 students whose tuition will be covered under the Husky Promise, our new need-based tuition guarantee program. It is an important moment in the institution’s history and an important step in ensuring broad access to the UW and its programs for the citizens of our state.

Along with that, our friends and alumni continue to create expanded opportunities for students throughout our three campuses. You will read in this issue about Josef (’29, ’31) and Muriel Diamond, who created the School of Law’s first Students First endowment just weeks before Joe’s death last March, and Eric and Christine Larsen, who established a new fellowship in the Information School. Together with more than 105,000 contributors to the University this past fiscal year (a record), these friends have made important commitments to the futures of our students and the institution itself.

As Campaign UW continues to make steady progress toward the ultimate $2.5 billion goal, we are grateful to the friends mentioned above and to all of you who have given your time and dollars in support of this great institution. The future is looking bright, indeed, because of your thoughtful generosity.
Thank you for your vision, your advocacy and your invaluable support.
