The Service Employees Opportunity Fund Helen Remick and Jeraldine (Jerri) McCray, who gave a combined 70 years of service to the University, have established The Service Employees Opportunity Fund. The purpose of this endowment is to provide financial assistance to service workers of the University and members of their families. Many custodians, food service workers and laundry workers give devoted service to the University while pursuing hopes and dreams for themselves and their families. Even though they are among the lowest paid and often unnoticed staff in the University community, they nevertheless have aspirations of success and educational pursuit. This endowed scholarship fund recognizes their service and aspirations by helping them and their families to reach educational and work goals. Helen Remick worked for the University for 30 years and retired as Assistant Provost for Equal Opportunity. Jerri McCray worked for the University for 40 years and retired as Associate Vice President for Facilities Services. During their tenure at the University, Helen and Jerri advocated for the interests of University service employees, and this scholarship continues their advocacy to support the development and success of University service employees. Please consider joining Helen and Jerri in creating educational opportunities for members of our community who work hard every day with pride to make the UW the great place it is.
