Lt. Col. "Pappy" Boyington Memorial Scholarship Fund
Our goal for this fund is to fully endow a scholarship at the $50,000 level. Endowed scholarships create a lasting legacy of support and provide funds for scholarships in perpetuity. To learn more about Pappy Boyington, you can read the Columns article here. We've raised more than $27,000 in gifts and pledges from nearly 200 donors, and more gifts continue to come in for the fund. Every contribution sends a strong message of support for our young men and women in the armed services. We've also seen a number of gifts come in to the UW Foundation in support of Detachment 910 (our UW Air Force ROTC program) as well as the Husky Battalion (UW's Navy ROTC program) and the Kinnear Husky Battalion (UW Army ROTC program). Many of our donors are first-time givers to the University of Washington, and we are deeply grateful for their support. The UW Foundation makes it easy for donors to be very targeted in their giving. I urge you to be engaged in the life of the University, get to know some of our students, and support the students who share your values. We have more than 4,000 different funds you can support through the UW Foundation. If you are interested, you can make a gift online to the Pappy Boyington Memorial Scholarship, or you can mail a check to us at: UW Foundation Checks should be made payable to the UW Foundation, with a note indicating the Pappy Boyington Memorial Scholarship. You can also make a gift or pledge by phone by contacting us on our toll-free line at 1-877-UW-GIFTS. We are deeply gratified by the many gifts given by donors all across the country. Because of this generosity, a US Marine Corps veteran or the child of a US Marine Corps veteran will be helped in pursuing studies at the UW. Please join us in this effort to honor Pappy Boyington, and please share this information with others who might be interested. Thank you. For questions about this fund, please contact: George Zeno
