About Harborview

Perhaps more than any other institution in the Puget Sound region, Harborview reaches out to people from all walks of life. Harborview is one of the two teaching hospitals of the University of Washington, and is the only Level I Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center serving Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Harborview is a safety net for anyone in a traumatic accident: the facility is ready to care for the most complex injuries and illness at any time.

No one is ever turned away from Harborview because of inability to pay. Nearly 70 percent of Harborview's patients are reimbursed through Medicare, Medicaid or are uninsured-the highest percentage of any hospital in the state. And as reimbursement shrinks, our need for private support grows. Private support ensures our continued excellence. Increasingly, we rely on the generosity of our community friends and corporate sponsors.

During Campaign UW, Harborview Medical Center-as part of UW Medicine-seeks funds to support students, faculty, programs, and facilities. The total Campaign goal for UW Medicine is $1 billion. To learn more about our specific Campaign priorities, please contact Andrea Myers, Director of Development.

Annual Support

Annual gifts for current use help provide Harborview with valuable resources that can be directed to the area of highest priority. Your unrestricted gift to the Harborview Fund for Greatest Need provides critical funds for priorities such as patient care enhancement and social service programs. Other giving opportunities include making a gift as a tribute or a memorial to a loved one or a care provider, or participating in our annual events: the black-tie Salute Harborview Gala and the Harborview Classic Golf Tournament.

Recognition Levels

To recognize and acknowledge our donors, we introduce the following annual giving clubs:

  • Dean's Circle ($25,000 and above)
  • Ambassador ($10,000 to $24,999)
  • Champion ($5,000 to $9,999)
  • Patron ($2,500 to $4,999)
  • Steward ($1,000 to $2,499)
  • Sponsor ($500 to $999)
  • Advocate ($250 to $499)
  • Partner ($100 to $249)
  • Supporter ($1 to $99)

Through events and publications, we will inform our Annual Giving Club members of the many activities and initiatives through which we pursue our mission of outstanding patient care, teaching, research, and community service.
