About Campaign UW: Creating Futures

The University of Washington launched Campaign UW: Creating Futures in July 2000 to ensure that the UW and its students, faculty and staff have the resources to remain competitive among the world's top research institutions, while providing broader access to the University for more students.

To date, more than 246,000 donors - including alumni and friends, as well as corporations, foundations and other organizations - have contributed to the success of Campaign UW, creating hundreds of new endowments for faculty chairs and professorships, graduate fellowships, undergraduate scholarships and other student support.

In January 2007, Campaign UW reached the $2 billion milestone, nearly a year and a half ahead of schedule. To continue the momentum of Campaign UW, the UW Foundation Board increased the goal to $2.5 billion by June 30, 2008.

Putting students first

One of the highest priorities for the increased Campaign goal is support for the Students First matching initiative, which will provide need-based scholarships and fellowships for undergraduate, graduate and professional students on any of the three UW campuses. The Students First initiative helps support the Husky Promise®, our guarantee that students from low- and lower-income families in Washington state will not have to pay tuition and fees at the UW.
